On October 17, 1754, Richard Baley marries Rachel Ladson in the St. Andrews Parish, Charleston District, South Carolina (near present-day Charleston, SC). Twelve years later she remarries, probably due to his death. She marries Thomas Bur on 2/7/1766 (OJ 1764-1771). During this time our Bailey family is believed to be living in the same area. Richard may be a brother to our Jonas Bailey, Sr. (born about 1750). It is also possible that Jonas is the child of Rachel and Richard. PLEASE NOTE: We have not yet confirmed that Richard is the father of Jonas Bailey. We are posting this information on the website in order to collect more facts and hope that someone else can contribute additional information. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
