James M. Howard
On the afternoon of December 10th, 2014, heaven got a little bit sweeter. James "Papaw" Howard was embraced by the arms of Jesus peacefully at home surrounded by his beloved family. After a long enduring fight to survive and the dedication of love and care of "Pops" by his son-in-law Louis Consoli IV, Jesus said, ENOUGH, it is time to come home and called his name. James was 77 years of age.
James, affectionately known as "Senor", retired as a Lieutenant Firefighter of Panama City. He continued the family business, Howard's Shoe Repair, passed down from his Father Milburn Howard. He was a man of little words but to those that knew him "Hmmph" could be interpreted into many things but the meaning was understood. He loved The Lord and his family. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was gentle and strong but most of all he was a giver and never a taker; that was the most precious thing about Papaw. He would give anyone his last penny or the shirt off his back and did.
He was proud of his Native American Heritage and it was true to his heart. He was Chief of the Florida Creek Tribe; his son honored him in beautiful dance and his daughters are crowned Princesses.
They carry on the Native American Heritage in honor of their Father, Chief Red Fox.
James was proceeded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Milburn Howard, his brother Kenneth Howard, his great- grandson Isaiah Howard, and his beautiful wife of 35 years, Mary Louise Howard.
James is survived by his sister, Mary Eleandor Howard; his son Timothy Wayne Howard and wife Rachel; daughters Yolanda Rodriguez and husband Mark, Kimberly Ann Consoli and husband Louis, and Susan Culverhouse, and Donnie; grandchildren Brittany Howard, Amber-Sue Consoli Pettijohn and husband PJ, Louis "Cody Boy" Consoli, Chloe Louise Cooke, Katelyn Wiehl, and Delta Howard; and one- great grandchild Anaiah Howard. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends that love him dearly. You are missed and we plan to reunite with you and family when Jesus calls our name.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with his granddaughter, Mrs. Amber-Sue Consoli Pettijohn officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
